What is included after installation
A solar system is bought once and owned for twenty-five years. Almost everything that matters about that ownership is decided by who is still answering the phone in year eight.
Two warranties, and they are not the same thing
Panels carry a product warranty covering defects and a performance warranty covering output, typically a guaranteed percentage of the original figure after 25 or 30 years. Inverters carry their own, usually shorter, and it is the component most likely to need attention first.
Both are the manufacturer's. What we add is that dealing with them is our job rather than yours. A warranty you have to enforce yourself, in another language, with a company on another continent, is worth much less than the certificate suggests.
You can see what it is doing
Every system we install reports its production. You can see what the roof made today, this month and this year, and compare it against what the proposal said it would make.
That comparison is the point. It is how a shortfall gets noticed in the first season rather than in the fifth, and it is the reason we put the expected production in writing before installation rather than after.
What the system actually needs
Less than people expect, and more than nothing. There are no moving parts on a roof. What there is: dust, which needs washing off periodically in a climate with a long dry season, and fixings and connections, which are worth inspecting rather than assuming.
We are clear about this before you buy. A company that tells you a solar system is entirely maintenance-free is either mistaken or is planning not to be involved.
- Production monitoring from the day it is switched on
- Warranty claims handled by us, with the manufacturer
- One number to call, and it is the company that designed the system
Ask us what happens in year ten
It is a fair question and it should have a clear answer before you sign anything. Book an assessment and ask it.
